- 625 people were paraded by the police for various crimes in Bayelsa state

The Bayelsa state command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) paraded 625 people for various crimes, ranging from murder, robbery and kidnapping on Monday, December 18.
The suspects were arrested between the month of January to December 17 2017.
The Punch reports that the Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa state command, Asuquo Amba, said about 66 weapons and hundreds of ammunition were recovered from the suspects.
Amba said the operatives arrested 68 suspects for murder, 122 suspects for assault, 87 persons for kidnapping, 241 suspects for armed robbery and 107 suspects for unlawful possession of firearms.

He said: “Sixty-two murder cases have been reported during the period under review. Sixty-eight suspects have been arrested, 21 cases are under investigation and 27 of such cases have been charged to court.
“On assault, 73 cases were reported. The police arrested 122 suspects, 37 cases are under investigation while 15 cases have been charged to court.
“Also, 177 cases of armed robbery were reported, about 241 suspects were arrested, 70 cases are under investigation, 56 cases have been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice and 27 cases have been charged to court.
“Furthermore, 66 arms have been recovered. One hundred and seven suspects have been arrested, 29 cases are under investigation, 30 cases have been forwarded for legal advice to the DPP while 13 suspects have been charged to court.”

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com earlier reported that four people parading themselves as operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (F-SARS) have been killed in Rivers state.
The alleged fake SARS officers were killed by F-SARS on Saturday, December 16, at Ogbogoro community in the Obio/Akpor local government area of Rivers state.
A source who pleaded anonymity said the suspects were spotted to be fake SARS operatives by some residents of the area.
