The embattled national chairman of the All progressives Congress (APC), John Oyegun, on Wednesday, March 28, called off a meeting scheduled between the National Working Committee of the party and the House of Representatives caucus.
Punch reports that the meeting was unceremoniously called off after President Muhammadu Buhari rejected the elongation of the tenure of the party's executives.
It was gathered that the meeting led by Oyegun was earlier scheduled to hold on Wednesday, March 28, at 2pm but never took place.

Also the planned venue of the meeting - Conference Room 034, House of Representatives Wing of the National Assembly Complex - was already flooded with many members of the party including the leader of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila and Speaker Yakubu Dogara, at the scheduled time before news of the cancellation broke.
Oyegun had earlier written to the members of the House on March 15, calling for a meeting to address the issues within the party.
The letter read in part: “I wish to request that you arrange an early meeting between the NWC and the APC House Caucus at the National Assembly to discuss a few recent developments in the polity.”
But a source within the APC said while they were waiting in the complex, the chairman sent word that the meeting will no longer hold.

“The chairman’s advance party and secretariat members of staff had already arrived in the National Assembly.
“But, Odigie-Oyegun called Gbajabiamila on the telephone to say the meeting would no longer be taking place," the source said.
“A message got to him (Oyegun) that some members celebrated the action of the President.
“His associates claimed that the chairman was not sure of the likely reception to receive from the lawmakers,” the source added.
But in his reaction, Gbajabiamila said there was no cause for alarm.
“There is nothing serious. I mean, there are no issues with the party. All the organs and activities are working.
“Members are angry? How? Why will they be angry? There is nothing of that nature," the House leader said.
NAIJ.com earlier reported that some members of the APC had told a court that President Buhari is just an ordinary member of the party.
