Chief Dan Orbih who is the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo state is being quizzed by the police for alleging that the state government diverted rice meant for the for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
The Nation reports that Governor Godwin Obaseki had sent a petition to the state commissioner of police, Babatunde Kokumo, asking that Orbih be made to provide facts for his allegation.

Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and a large crowd of PDP supporters accompanied the PDP chairman to the police command headquarters on Tuesday, March 6.
He had claimed that “4,721 bags of rice out of the 6,822 bags donated by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) to IDPs at Ohogua village in Ovia North East local government area of the state were diverted.”

Meanwhile, Edo governor Godwin Obaseki promised President Muhammadu Buhari not fewer than 1.2m votes from the south-south state in the 2019 presidential elections.
Vanguard reports that Obaseki made the vow while receiving a reported 10,000 defectors from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party at All Progressives Congress (APC) rally on Thursday, March 1, in Benin.
He said the chairmen and councillors of the party expected to emerge at the local government elections held on Saturday, March 3, would make it possible by delivering very well in the 18 local government areas of Edo state.
