A senator representing Yobe south at the Senate between 2011-2015, Alkali Abdulkadir Jajere, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to declare his ambition to seek re-election in 2019.
In an interview with Daily Trust, Jajere said it is not too early for President Muhammadu Buhari to declare for second term because there is less than a year to the polls.

NAIJ.com gathered that he the president should just make up his mind and declare and speak the mind of the country because the people are already for him.
He said: "The president should just make up his mind and declare, speak the mind of the country because the people are already for him. The modest achievements so far are glaring testimonies that the next four years would restore this country to its past glory and put it on the path of development.
"We in the northwest are humbled and appreciative of the work that Mr. President and the Nigerian army and other security agencies have done in restoring peace to the region.
"This is a country that exited from recession within a short time; many countries had gone into recession but it took them years to come out of it.
"There are road networks that he has chunked out across the length and breadth of this country, which are to be started soon.
"So without him, who is going to supervise the projects? We are reaching the Eldorado and dreamland that we want this country to be; Mr. President must continue to stay so that he will see to the fulfillment of the roadmap.
"All these security issues that we are seeing now have political undertone; they are meant to derail him. I advise Mr. President not to succumb to all these antics; he should remain resolute; he is the best person that this country can have to deliver on the expected development.
"They say numbers don’t lie. Now let us take his recent outings in Kano, Kogi, Nasarawa and Yola. I think those people are human beings; so I say President Buhari is still electable.
"It is just the masses expressing their happiness, passion and love for the man. They know the amount of challenges that he is going through; especially seeing that he is fighting corruption.

Speaking on the crisis rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Jajere said: "Definitely, it will come to an end. The national executive committee of the party has its own mandate. It is an ad hoc assignment given to Tinubu by Mr. President looking at his background and capacity.

He can reach many people across the country; he is someone who is open, who believes in party politics. You need to dialogue and ask everyone to come to concession.
