Twenty years after its collapse, the former Delta Steel Company, Ovwian- Aladja, has come alive, Vanguard reports.
The commissioning of the company, now called the Premium Steel and Mines Limited, was done by the state governor, Ifeanyi Patrick Okowa, over the weekend.

NAIJ.com gathers that the governor urged the company’s management to ensure that it engages the residents of the host communities, in compliance with the federal government’s local content policy.
Okowa lauded the courage of Premium Steel and Mines Limited for its investment in the place, as he expressed his delight that the steel company had been reopened.
The company’s chief executive officer, Mr Prasanta Mishra, disclosed that other sections of the company would soon take off, and expressed resolve that the company would grow to become one of the largest steel companies in Africa.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that the Kogi state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, said that what the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recovered from a single Nigerian looter was enough to complete the moribund Ajaokuta steel company.
Bello stated this in Lokoja while receiving the speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, and the chairman and members of the House Committee on Steel Development.
The governor said that for Nigeria to experience true development, it must meet its steel need and also be a big player in the international steel market.
