The Nigerian Army has called on Boko Haram insurgents to disarm and accept the federal government's amnesty offer.
The spokesperson for the Nigerian Army, Brig Gen Texas Chukwu, on Thursday, March 29, urged the insurgents to take advantage of the federal government's amnesty offer which was still open, Sahara Reporters stated.

The army also commended members of the civilian Joint task force (CJTF) for patriotism, resilience and cooperation with troops in the fight against the insurgents.
The statement from the army read in part: "We commend patriotic members of Civilian vigilante (Civilian JTF) for their resilience and continued cooperation with troops, and urge members of the public to emulate their vigilance and security consciousness by reporting any suspicious persons or objects to the nearest military location.
“We wish to remind repentant Boko Haram fighters that the window of opportunity to embrace the Federal Government Amnesty program is still open to them to surrender and lay down their weapons."

Chukwu said troops morale remains high as they dominate the general area with a robust fighting patrol in continuation with the clearance operations.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) issued a red-alert on Thursday, March 15, as it warns residents of Borno state against an impending attack by the Boko Haram terrorist group using vehicles loaded with explosives.
According to the police, the planned attack may result in heavy casualty if it succeeds since the insurgents are suspected to be targeting strategic locations of the city that are densely populated.
Premium Times reports that a statement by the police command in Borno state, signed by Ahmed Bello, an assistant commissioner of police, said the attack could take place in different parts of the city.
