The governor of Benue state, Samuel Ortom, on Tuesday, March 6, ordered a mass burial for all the victims of the attack which took place in Omusu community in Edumoga, Okpokwu local government area of the state.
Ortom while condemning the attack, mandated security agencies to arrest the perpetrators of the crime.
The Nation, however, reports that Omusu community has been deserted for fear of mayhem since the attack which left about 15 people dead.

While the bodies of the victims have been deposited at the morgue in government hospital at Okpoga.
Also survivors are being treated at various hospitals in the area.
The chairman of Okpokwu council, Francis Olofu Ogwuche, had informed tthe governor that he was in the community for a peace meeting.
He sooner than he left the meeting, he a call that some herdsmen invaded the area, killing children and women.

Ogwuche told Ortom that he mobilised security agencies to the scene but the attackers had fled.
This fresh mass burial would be the second this year followings clashes between herdsmen and farmers in Benue state.
The first which raised outrage across the globe was the killing of 73 residents of Guma and Logo local government areas in the state.
NAIJ.com earlier reported that the Benue state governor had ordered security agencies to flush out the perpetrators of crime in the state.

The governor also reaffirmed that the Benue state open grazing prohibition law will not be repelled.
He said the state has taken taken steps to ensure that agents and mercenaries of armed herdsmen causing mayhem in Benue are forced out of the state.
