In collaboration with World Conference for Islamic Youths, a medical team from Saudi Arabia comprising of five Saudi eye surgeons, has conducted free eye surgery for 515 patients in Kano state, Daily Trust reports.
NAIJ.com noted that the announcement was contained in a statement by the Saudi vice consul, Yousef Ibrahem Alghamdi.
Alghamdi said: “The team has succeeded in assisting many people to regain their sight after years of temporary blindness due to their inability to access medical treatment. We have been monitoring their conditions after the surgery as well as issuance of free medicines to the patients involved."

According to Alghamdi, the team increased the number of the beneficiaries from the initial 400 patients to 515 because it took into consideration the number of people that needed the surgery.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that a team of American physicians began free medical treatment for residents of Kano state.
The exercise which was expected to last for two weeks was aimed at carrying out surgery on at least 5,000 people and treat another 5,000 out patients.
Leader of the mission, Dr Chukwuemeka Onwenu, said the mission, which comprised 36 professionals, would offer services in general surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, urology and treat eye cases, adding that that they would work in Kano for two weeks.
Also reported by NAIJ.com was that over 50,000 patients in Bauchi state were to benefit from the free medical services offered by speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, as he commenced his annual medical outreach to Nigerians.
Information posted on the speakers’ website, Yakubudogara.com.ng, stated that hundreds of patients who turned out for different medical needs were attended to by a team of medical doctors, nurses, laboratory technicians and surgeons.
The doctors on Monday, February 12 , successfully separated conjoined twins and the programme was set to continue for the next five days at the Trauma centre of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi.
