- Super Eagles teammate, Obafemi Martins and Odion Ighalo, are missing from the list

Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi has been listed as one of the top 10 biggest foreign players in the Chinese Super League.
The 2018 league season of the money-spinning Chinese Super League commences this weekend after the winter transfer window ended on Wednesday, February 28.
According to a publication of a French Football Magazine on Friday, March 2, the Tianjin Teda star was named among the 10 biggest foreigners alongside his former Chelsea teammates Ramires and Oscar.

Mikel is not the only African on the list as former Arsenal winger, Gervinho from Coted’voire who plays for Hebei Fortune but Obafemi Martins and Odion Ighalo did not make the cut.
Former Barcelona star Javier Mascherano who recently switched to China is another big star in the 10 man list alongside his Argentine teammate and former Paris Saint Germain striker Ezequiel Lavezzi.

Belgian star Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco who completed a shock move to from Atletico Madrid to Dalian Yifang who is tipped to be the most watched player in coming weeks was also in top 10.
Givanildo Vieira do Souza alos known as Hulk is also included and the scorer of 17 goals for Shanghai SIPG last term will be another star to watch.

With all things being equal Mikel will captain the Nigerian national team to the Russia 2018 World Cup in June where the Super Eagles will face Iceland, Argentina and Croatia in Group D.
The former Chelsea star scored two goals for Nigeria during the qualification stage against Algeria and Cameroon respectively.
