- Saudi Arabia has made a donation of $10 million to Nigeria government and the military
- The fund is to assist federal government and the Nigerian government in the fight against Boko Haram
- The money will also help in providing and protecting the internally displaced person in the north east region of Nigeria
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has donated $10 million (N3.6 billion) in cash, arms and relief material to tackle the humanitarian crisis in Nigeria.
The leader of the Saudi Arabian delegation announced the donation during a visits to the minister of defence, Mansur Dan-Ali on Monday, March 5.
Nasir Bin Mutlak said the aid package which is in cash and military equipment was aimed at assisting the displaced persons in the north east and other essential needs of the military.

Mutlak said: "Our country (Saudi Arabia) and Nigeria have continued to have very good relationship. Our mission in the ministry of Defence is to help our brothers in the IDP camps in the north east.
The $10 million is from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center and the Saudi Development Fund.
“It is meant to show solidarity with Nigeria in the fight against terrorism and to show support in aid of the IDPs who are going through some sufferings," Mutlak said.

He also said that Saudi Arabian delegation would visit the various states in the north east affected primarily by Boko Haram to assess the level of support to be provided for the region.
He said the aim of the Saudi Arabia Kingdom is to ease the effect of the insurgency destruction on those states and report back to their country.
In his respose, Dan Ali commended the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the huge support to Nigeria.
He said the $10 million will not only assist Nigeria in tackling the challenges at IDP camps but will also help the country acquire strategic military equipment needed to tackle the terrorists challenges.
“Nigeria really values the alliance between our countries to fight terrorism. As you may be aware, we have the Multi-national Joint Task Force MNJTF, comprising Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad, Niger and Benin Republic fighting to stop the spread and advancement of terrorism in the region.
“Consequently, the humanitarian crises goes even beyond Nigeria. We have refugees from Cameroon, Chad and Niger, worsening the already tough situation with IDPs in the country. Your intervention will go a long way in helping us tackle these challenges”.
“However, I will still call on your government to consider other areas where you can still be of assistance because the challenges are enormous," Dani-Ali said.

The services were given to 515 pateints living Kano the the Saudi Arabia Kingdom in patenership with World Conference for Islamic Youths.
The team consisting of five Saudi Arabian eye surgeons, Saudi vice consul Yousef Ibrahem Alghamdisus said, succeeded in assisting many people to regain their sight after years of temporary blindness due to their inability to access medical treatment.
