- Najeem Salam has spoken about his interest in the forthcoming governorship election in Osun state
- Salam said no politician can stop him from realising his ambition of becoming the governor of the state after Governor Rauf Aregbesola
- He said it is not true that he had been paid to drop his governorship ambition
The speaker of the Osun state House of Assembly, Najeem Salam, on Thursday, June 28, said he will become the governor of the state after Governor Rauf Aregbesola despite the blackmail employed against him by some politicians.
The Punch reports that Salam made this known in Osogbo while declaring his governorship intention at the state secretariat of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
The speaker said some mischief-makers concocted outright lies against him that he had been paid N250m by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to forget his ambition and support a certain governorship aspirant.

The Ejigbo-born politician said there was no way he would have come out in full force to declare his ambition if truly he had been paid to drop it.
He said: “They came up with falsehood that I went to Lagos and I was paid to drop my governorship ambition. It is not true. There is no way I would come out this way if I had been paid.
“Would they not ask me the reason behind my declaration if truly I had been paid to drop my ambition? No amount of blackmail can stop me."
