Some international charity ships and the Libya's coastguard has picked up several hundred migrants near Libya border with Tunisia.
Reuters reports that the Libyan coastguard vessels intercepted three migrant boats had broken down with 125 people on board off Zawiya, west of the capital, Tripoli.
The spokesperson for the coastguard, Ayoub Qassem, said the second boat had turned back off Garabulli with 112 people on board while a third boat with 98 migrants on board was intercepted off Abu Kamash.

Qassem added that a boat with more than 100 migrants made it to the Aquarius rescue ship about 21 miles from the coast to the west of Tripoli while preparing the migrants to Italy.
It was gathered that the boat was on the verge on sinking when the rescuers reached the migrants.

One of the rescuers said: "All but one of the five balloons holding the boat up was either completely deflated or deflating and there were still about 120 people inside the boat, so a very, very precarious condition."
One of the migrants - a Palestinian - was said to have be thrown into the water by other migrants after he tried to convince them that they would be saved by the coastguard.
