The Nigeria Army on Monday, March 12, said it arrested a member of a kidnapping gang, Mohammed Bashir, in Kogi state.
The Army said Bashir who allegedly killed a corporal, Mamman of the AHQ Special Forces on February 28, was arrested during a raid operation at Irovochinomi / Egee communities in Okene local government area of Kogi state.

A statement by the director of army public relations, Brigadier General Texas Chukwu, said Bashir's arrest followed reports on criminal hideouts on Sunday, March 11.

The Army spokesperson said troops of the headquarters command Army record supported by the special forces made the arrest.

"Items recovered includes, 2 AK 47 rifles with registration number 58008731 and 45 rounds of 7.62mm special was recovered. A follow up on the operation led to recovery of additional 2 AK 47 rifles," the statement said.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that some herdsman were apprehended with riffle in Plateau state.
The spokesperson for the Plateau police command said the herdsman, Muhammadu Musa was arrested by mobile police officers on March 8, at Daffo.
The suspect has also been transferred from Bokkos to the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Jos and was already being interrogated.
