The children of the late Sir Louis Odumegwu Ojukwu, appeared in an Awka High Court on Monday, March 12, over the controversy surrounding the sharing of the deceased millionaire’s property, Vanguard reports.
Sir Louis Odumegwu Ojukwu is the father of the late Ikemba Nnewi, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.

NAIJ.com notes that the suit was instituted in 2014, by two of the senior Ojukwu’s sons - Ikemefuna Ojukwu and Chukwuma Ojukwu - against their uncles, Dr Joseph Ojukwu, Dr Ike Ojukwu and Mr Lotanna Ojukwu; and Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu, the wife of the late Ikemba Nnewi.
Among other reliefs, the plaintiffs are seeking for the court to declare that they are entitled to 25 percent shares of their father’s company, Ojukwu Transport Company; and 25 percent of the property in his compound at No. 73, Owerri road, Nnewi.
They also want the court to grant an order unsealing their father’s will; and for the defendants to be compelled to account for how their late father’s property was managed over the years.
Okwuchukwu Ugolo, SAN, represented the first defendant, Dr Joeseph Ojukwu; while the second defendant (Mr Lotanna Ojukwu) and the fifth defendant (Ojukwu Transport Company) were both represented by Mr Christopher Ezeoka.
The counsel to the plaintiffs, Chuka Osianatogu, however informed the court that the counsel to the first defendant had failed to comply with Order 48 of the High Court (Civil Procedure) rule.
In response, Ugolo applied for a new date to enable him file the pre-trial conference and put his house in order.
The court further observed that the order-of-hearing notice was not served on Bianca Ojukwu. Also, the fourth defendant, the probate registrar of Awka High Court, was not served at all.
The case was adjourned to May 7 by the presiding judge, Dennis Mmaduechesi.
