The Nigerian Navy on Thursday, March 29, said it foiled two major attacks on two merchant ships in Lagos and Bayelsa waters.
Daily Trust reports that it said that the troops who foiled both attacks were deployed for a regional maritime sea exercise code name "Exercise Obangame".

NAIJ.com gathered that the Navy's Chief of Transformation, Rear Admiral Begroy Ibe-Enwo, who made this disclosure at the end of a week long yearly regional sea exercise also said that a combined effort from navies from the West African sub region led to the arrest of about eight persons who had allegedly hijacked a fishing trawler off the coast of Togo.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had previously reported that the German government has donated five gunboats to Nigerian Navy to fight insurgency in the Lake Chad area of the northeast.
It wasreported that Consul-General of Germany in Nigeria, Ingo Herbert, on Tuesday, March 13, at the handover of the boats in Onne, Rivers state, said the development was a positive vibe for Germany in deepening its partnership with Nigeria and helping build peace and development in the country.
