A family member of Uba Muhammad who is the Secretary of Kano state Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) who was whisked away by unknown gunmen at gunpoint in the early hours of Saturday, March 3, said abductors have demanded a ransom of N20m to set him free.
Vanguard reports that he said the case has been reported to the police, as he added that concern authorities are responding to the demand.

According to him, ''It was a shocking news on Saturday when the development was reported to the board. He was kidnapped at his village where, he mostly, spend his weekend.
''We were told by the family that some people invaded the family house with guns and took him away. We have already reported the case to the government and relevant security apparatus and we hope the man will be rescued soonest.''

It was leanrt that the state police public relations officer Magaji Musa Majia confirmed the development, as he assured the police commitment to rescued the victim alive.
Majia said the police was informed by the family member who came to lodge the complaint.
Meanwhile, suspected armed robbers allegedly killed a police guard during a robbery operation at the popular Ladan Wapa supermarket along Katsina-Kano.
The tragic incident happened on Sunday, January 21, as the gunmen reportedly stormed the supermarket shooting sporadically.
