The France international who returned to training after a serious knee injury, splashed out on the mansion in a street dubbed the most expensive road in the north.

The house was owned by former Manchester City manager Mark Hughes, who already had planning permission to completely rebuild the property.

The six-bedroom house boasts a gym and two swimming pools in the basement, perfect to help the Frenchman build up his fitness ahead of his comeback.
The former Monaco star bought the house last November after a previous sale with another client fell through.

However, the £52m defender will not be the first football star to move in as it was previously rented to Peter Crouch and his wife Abbey Clancy in 2011.

Mendy will now be able to boast having former England international Wayne and Rooney as well as former Leicester City midfielder Robbie Savage as his neighbours.
The France left back has been out for most of the season with an anterior cruciate ligament injury and he is expected to return to action in the Manchester derby and probably the Champions League semis.
