Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is preparing to spend big in the summer for the signature of Real Madrid star Raphael Varane, Diario Gol reports.
The France international was signed by Mourinho in 2011 in his second year as coach of Los Blancos and he has enjoyed a good career so far in La Liga.
Mourinho is adamant on adding a world class centre-back to pair up with Eric Bailly next season following the lapses in the central defence.

The Ivorian defender has been has been inconsistent because of recurring injury problems while Varane will add up with Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof.
Lindeloff was signed in the summer for £30m from Benfica but has failed to live up to the billing at Old Trafford and could be axed in the summer.
Smalling and Jones have also rumoured with a move away, with Arsenal reportedly interested land the pair at the Emirates.

United are expected to spend big in the summer to compete with rivals Manchester City and Mourinho has pointed out the neighbours are excelling because of their heavy spending on defenders.
City made huge spendings for the likes of Benjamin Mendy, Kyle Walker and Aymeric Laporte all for more than £50m and Pep Guardiola's men have the best defence conceeding just 20 goals this season in the Premier League.
Guardiola’s side are sitting comfortaby at the top of league by a 16 point gap and the title could be won in April when both Manchester sides clash at the Etihad.
