Suspected bandits have murdered a herdsman and 15 of his cows in Rafin-Bauna area, Bassa local government area of Plateau state, Premium Times reports.
The unfortunate incident was confirmed by the public relations officer of the Plateau state police command, Terna Tyopev, on Monday, March 5.

NAIJ.com gathers that Tyopev further disclosed that two local miners were also injured in the same local government area.
He stated: “On the 5th of March 2018, at about 1730 hours, information was received that one Fulani cattle rearer was killed by people suspected to be Irigwe people; and about 15 of his cows were also killed at Rafin-Bauna area.
“We received information at about 1800 hours that two Irigwe youth while returning from a mining site at Gyero area of Jos-south were attacked by unknown armed gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen; as a result they sustained various degrees of injury.
“They were rushed to Enos hospital in Maingo, Bassa local government area.”
Tyopev stated that investigation was ongoing, and assured the public that the culprits in both cases would be apprehended by the command.
He continued: “Investigation is in progress; scene(s) of the incidents will be visited tomorrow morning (Tuesday) to ascertain and assess. Intensive patrol of the general area is being sustained.”

In a related development, NAIJ.com previously reported that the Plateau state commissioner of police, Undie Adie, paraded two suspected herdsmen for killing a 7-year-old boy, Muhammed Ibrahim and robbing him of 15 cows and 14 sheep entrusted in his custody by his uncle, Ibrahim Haruna at Agigi village in Bassa local government area of the state.
While parading the suspects at the state police command, Adie said they confessed in a statement about how they connived with some herdsmen to rustle cows, sheep and killed the boy.
The suspects were identified as Bala Yahaya Mohammed and Salish Ishaku, while others had fled.
