- The Association of Catholic Medical Practitioners of Nigeria has outlined what it described as the ’10 mortal sins’ of Rochas Okorocha
- The association stated that the Imo governor had destroyed the state’s economy with the implementation of the urban renewal programme which it said led to the loss of about 25,000 jobs
- It also chided the governor for erecting statues in the state, signing the Abortion Bill, and demolishing the Ekeukwu market during which a young boy was killed
Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state has been accused of ‘mindlessly destroying’ the state’s economy, by the Association of Catholic Medical Practitioners of Nigeria (ACMPN), Vanguard reports.
The group made its comments via its chairman, Dr Phillip Njemanze, in a press release titled: “The 10 Mortal Sins of Governor Rochas Okorocha.”

NAIJ.com gathers that Njemanze chided the governor for losing over N3.5 trn to the state’s urban renewal programme; and stated that since the programme was implemented, no fewer than 25,000 jobs have been lost.
He stated: “Imo state economy drastically shrunk because of the loss of a whopping N3.5 trillion, as a result of the urban renewal programme. The colossal loss resulted to an equally disturbing loss of no fewer than 25,000 jobs.”
He continued: “This huge losses have sadly reduced the state’s gross domestic product by at least 30 percent.”
Explaining the alleged ’10 mortal sins’ committed by the governor, Njemanze stated that they were sins which violated the 10 commandments of God.
He stated: “The Okorocha administration had publicly lied in the name of God, in what everyone knows is false, including the false assertion that the state administration paid N400 million to the Catholic Archdiocese, for the refurbishing of Catholic schools.”
“The governor instead used the money to erect statues of friends and associates, and luxury homes for family members and cronies, in violation of the fifth commandments.
“We have not forgotten the Abortion Bill, which the governor signed into law, to murder the unborn Imo child.
“We have equally not forgotten how 10-year-old Somtochukwu Ibeanusi was murdered gruesomely, during the destruction of Ekeukwu Owerri market. This is a violation of the sixth commandment that you shall not kill.”

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that scores of members of the Imo state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) vowed to stop Uche Nwosu, the son-in-law of Governor Rochas Okorocha, from contesting the 2019 gubernatorial election on the party’s platform.
The group, called the Restoration Coalition of APC, disclosed their decision to newsmen at Ngor Okpala local government area, via their spokesperson, Theodore Ekechi, alongside party leaders.
They claimed that their decision was informed, in part, due to the fact that the governor had used coercion, intimidation and blackmail to endorse his son-in-law.
