There was chaos in Ughelli main market on Saturday, March 10, when a cow being led to slaughterr ran away from its herders.
NAIJ.com gathered that the herders were leading the cow from a cowshed at Awhinawhin area to a slaughter at Oghenevweta street when the incident happened. The cow was said to have gone berserk, running into passersby in the area and injuring many.
One of the eyewitnesses, Davies Ejor, a commercial motorcyclist, told Vanguard that he narrowly escaped being lynched by the angry cow. He said the cow tried to use its horn on him.

“It attempted to use its horn on me. But I was lucky to have narrowly missed being pierced, but I sustained some degrees of injury,” Ejor said.
The situation was however, controlled after the herders managed to bring the cow to its knees and restrain it at the end of Ojokor street in Ughelli.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that governor of Ondo state, Rotimi Akeredolu, said it is important for each state to have its own ranch. He said such move by the state governments will discourage "normadism" in Nigeria.
The governor said ranching would permanently solve the clashes incessant clashes between herdsmen and farmers across various states in Nigeria.
