- Kylian Mbappe admits PSG's quality wasn't enough to get anything out of their Champions League fixture against Real Madrid
- The Spanish League giants progressed to the quarterfinals stage after recording 5-2 aggregate win over the Parisians
- While the 20-year-old believes the players must take responsibility for the loss
Paris Saint Germain striker Kylian Mbappe says Spanish League giants, Real Madrid are true champions following their 5-2 loss on aggregate in the Champions League round of 16 clash.
When the two sides were paired last December, many thought the Parisians were ready to give Los Blancos a run for their money, but after the two-legged affair, it was obvious the French Ligue 1 outfit aren’t ready for the big stage yet.
Real won the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu 3-1, before completing their mission at the French capital with a 2-1 win over their hosts at the Parc Des Princess on March 6, in a game where the most expensive player in the world, Neymar was missing due to an ankle injury.

Mbappe couldn’t inspire PSG to a comeback against the most successful team in the UEFA elite competition, and the Frenchman says the game was battle between ‘great players against the champions’.
The 20-year-old further stated that his team gave their best, but their best wasn’t just good enough to match the experiences of the Galacticos in that competition.
"Mentally, we wanted to face the game against Madrid as best as possible," he said, per Marca.
"Nobody can say that we didn't try, but this is football and although we have great players, Madrid showed the difference between having great players and champions."
Meanwhile, the future of Unai
Emery has continued to be in doubt following his inability to grind out result against the European powerhouse, despite spending €222 million to acquire Neymar from Barcelona last summer.
While they triggered a clause in Mbappe's initial loan move from Monaco, confirming that they will pay €180m for his signature this summer.

Nevertheless, Mbappe insists the players should be blamed for their European failure, not Emery.
"It's not Unai Emery who lost, it's PSG so it's up to all of us to be whistled," he added. "We are the ones on the pitch.
"It was important to get back on track because we are still in three competitions.
"It is true that afterwards has been difficult but we are professionals, we must turn the page, and immediately move on. We will give everything for the three titles that remain."
PSG returned to winning ways after their disappointing defeat to Madrid on Saturday, March 10, beating Metz 5-0 in their French Ligue 1 action at the Parc Des Princes to keep them at the summit of the table with 77 points from 29 games – 14 points better than the defending champions, Monaco.
Mbappe was one of the goals scorer in that game.
