NAIJ.com gathered that a Catholic bishop is suspected to have jumped off a bridge to kill himself after a suicide note was found in his car.
According to reports from the Sanaga Maritime Division in Cameroon, the bishop of Bafia diocese in Centre Region, Monsignor Jean Marie Benoît Balla, may have jumped off a bridge to kill himself.
The Bishop whose somewhat 'mysterious' disappearance may be ruled a suicide, left a note saying 'I'm in the water', after parking his car on the Ebebda bridge.
The note which was in the backseat of his jeep was discovered after another priest, Fr. François-Xavier Ayissi of the parish of Balamba (department of Mbam and Inoubou) stopped upon spotting the vehicle.

Some relatives of Bishop Balla confirmed that the signature on the suicide note is indeed in the deceased's handwriting.
Sources close to him, including fellow priests and his family friends, claim they didn't notice any strange behaviour coming from him days before his disappearance, and have refused to believe that he may have killed himself.

An investigation is currently ongoing and efforts to recover his body from the water are being made.
The incident is also being looked at as a possible murder case. Bishop Balla if dead, will be the second clergyman to have died in Bafia in the last two weeks. A local priest was found dead the previous week.
