A last gasp header by Hector Moreno helped Mexico secure a vital point against European Champions Portugal in the second match of Group A at the ongoing 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia.
A moment of controversy came when Nani’s goal was ruled out in the 21st minute after there were appeals for offside. The referee sent the decision for video review and after about a long one minute, the goal was disallowed.
The highly entertaining fixture saw Cristiano Ronaldo put through a sublime assist for Ricardo Quaresma who slotted home the opening goal in the 35th minute.

Mexico’s all-time leading goal scorer Javier Hernandez pulled one back for his side with a classic flying-header in the 42nd minute with both teams going into the break 1-1. That was his 48 international goal.
The second half saw both sides play with more caution, but Portugal looked good to get the ‘ultimate’ goal.
Barely four minutes to the end of the game, Cedric Soares netted home what looked like the winning goal as Portugal were coasting home with the victory as three minutes were added-on into stoppage time.
Mexico had a corner kick right at the death and Hector Moreno headed home the crucial equalizer to send the entire Kazan Arena into the wilds. It ended; Portugal 2-2 Mexico.

Host Russia who defeated New Zealand 2-0 in the opening fixture of the tournament lead the group with 3 points. Portugal and Mexico are on a point each, while New Zealand are rock bottom with no point.
Group B will begin their quest when African Champions Cameroon take-on South American winners Chile at 7pm tonight.
Australia and Germany who are other teams in Group B will face-off tomorrow.
