The match which was played at the Otkrytiye Arena in Moscow was full of controversies as a result of late decisions by the newly adopted ‘Video Assistant Referee’ (VAR) system.
It was all about the South Americans in the entire first half, but they missed a couple of chances.
Chile however got the ball into the back of the net, but the goal was ruled out by VAR as Vargas who was set-up by Vidal was adjudged to be in an offside position right on the stroke of half-time.
There were very few chances created in the second half and as it looked like Cameroon will manage to get a point, Arturo Vidal nodded home in the 82nd minute to break the hearts of the Africans.
