- The Plateau state governor, Simon Bako Lalong and the minister of sports and youth development, Solomon Dalung have been in a faceoff over the name of a newly commissioned road
- Dalung has said that the road, named after the president, has already been named after General Yakubu Gowon
- However, the governor said that the Yakubu Gowon Way still exists and that there was no remaining of any road, adding that the minister is only trying to win cheap political point through his argument
The Plateau state governor, Simon Bako Lalong has faulted a comment by the minister of sports and youth development, Barrister Solomon Dalung, on the naming of a recently commissioned street after President Muhammadu Buhari.
Dalung took to his Facebook page on Sunday, March 11, to blast Lalong for naming the particular street which he claimed was already named after a former head of state, General Yakubu Gowon, Daily Trust reports.

However, Lalong through Yakubu Dati, his commissioner of information and communication, said if Dalung had to checked properly, he would have discovered that the Yakubu Gowon Way still exists and that there was no remaining of any road.
The commissioner explained that the new Muhammadu Buhari Way begins at Mararaban Jama’a round-about through Anguldi and Bukuru expressway and ends at Ta’en round-about. Yakubu: “The existing Yakubu Gowon way starts at Ta’en junction through building materials - Zarmaganda junction, Miango - old airport junctions, through Secretariat overhead bridge and ends at Plateau Specialist Hospital round-about.”

He added: “D. B Zang road starts from the Plateau Specialist Hospital round-about where Yakubu Gowon Way ends at Hill-Station round-about while Joseph Gomwalk road then starts from Hill-station round-about and ends at Polo Club round-about.”
Dati stated that by saying a part of the Yakubu Gowon Way was renamed, Dalung had created a wrong notion so as to score cheap political point.
