Signs of labor
Most women who haven’t turned into a mother yet and might not even have such plans for the near future don’t think about signs that labour has started. However, this is an important information for all ladies who could one day deliver a child.
Why is it so important? Should you learn about the main signs of labour only once you become pregnant? Or is it better to explore this interesting information beforehand?
We believe that knowing the early signs of labour in pregnancy is just as important as learning everything about being a woman and the female nature in general. Firstly, it is nice to be prepared for different turns and twists in your life. Secondly, you will stay calm and can help yourself much more if you are prepared.

Signs that labor is coming soon
1. Waters flow
This is probably the most significant and obvious sign that labor is coming soon. However, your water can break not like it is shown in the movies (not in 5 minutes, no). Many women experience this sign for several days in a row and keep breaking their head whether this is the time to go to the hospital or just amniotic fluid occurring.
How can you understand that your water is breaking because your labour is about to begin? Here is a tip. Smell them. If there is no special urine-like smell, if you cannot control this flow, it is your water. You will soon become a mommy.
2. Mucus plug
Every pregnant woman should keep in mind that her cervix is protected by a mucus plug that works like a ‘cork’, and when the times comes to deliver, it is released by the body.
How can you know that your cervix is no longer sealed? Some women don’t notice these changes, and some do. Just in case you happen to see some brown, pink or red pieces in your urine in late pregnancy, this can be one of the signs that labour is coming soon (in a couple of days from that moment).
3. A bigger number of trips to the bathroom
If early pregnancy offers some discomfort related to morning sickness, at later stages, women can find it more difficult to breathe. It happens because the child grows and starts to press on the diaphragm.
Closer to the time when you should deliver, the little one moves down, and this improves breathing. However, such a move also starts to press on the bladder which causes a woman to go to the bathroom more often. It is also a sign of coming labour.

4. Quick mood changes
We all know how most pregnant women suffer from mood swings, however, if you suddenly understand that it is way too much, it can be the sign of labour.
Thus, when you are in late stage of pregnancy keep an eye on your mood swings. If headaches, tiredness and irritability are not common to you, they could mean that you will soon turn into a happy mommy.
5. Diarrhea
While diarrhea doesn’t necessarily mean you are about to deliver a child, it can be one of the signs of labour in pregnancy. Why? A female body knows how to adjust to the circumstances and help the baby to see this world, and it offers its help by emptying the bowels.
Once diarrhea occurs, the baby gets more space to move downwards, and labour takes place.
6. Regular contractions
We all know about regular contractions. It is the main sign of a soon labour. Sometimes women experience practice contractions (they are officially called Braxton Hicks) that can be mistaken with the regular tightening of abdominal muscles.
How can you know that you should rush to the hospital? Intense contractions that occur with a short time interval (10, 8, 5, 3 minutes, etc.). Call your doctor and get ready to see your sweet baby soon.
We have listed some of the top signs that labor has started. However, you can also listen to your sixth sense, because it can tell a mother-to-be when her child is coming.
We wish you a happy and comfortable pregnancy and quick labour!
