New Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde joins Barcelona at a stage when the Catalan club are in need of major surgery in order to challenge for trophies next season.
Luis Enrique ended his tenure with only the Copa Del Rey in his third and final season, a far cry from the treble he won in his first season.
Valverde must sort out a lot of things with the club, but getting some major things right will help him have a successful tenure.
Ernesto Valverde has a huge job on his hands
1. Return Barcelona to their tiki-taka style
Under Gerard Martino and later Luis Enrique, Barcelona lost their playing identity as the club became more physical than technical and also more direct than possessive when they are with the ball.
With the core of Messi, Busquest, Iniesta, Pique still with the team, the tiki-taka style should be embraced to return to the glory years of Pep Guardiola.

2. Solve the Andres Iniesta conundrum
Iniesta is no longer the force he was three to four years back. There are few midfielders in the world able to make his skill and quality to replace him at Barcelona.
Isco will not leave Real Madrid while Coutinho has rejected the club numerous times.
Iniesta must be replaced properly with the midfielder in his latter years
The best option is to use Sergi Roberto more in the midfield than the right-back position. With Andre Gomes and Arda Turan proving incapable to replacing the legendary Spaniard, a tactical switch could also help.
3. Sort the defense, keep a first choice back four
Barcelona have, for years, been weak in defense as they are more concerned about attack.
However the club has had good defenders in years past, Carles Puyol and Eric Abidal to name a few.
Jordi Alba should be played regularly on the left, while Umtiti and Pique in the center while a right back should be signed if Aleix Vidal cannot be trusted.
Gerard Pique needs a stable four to perform regularly
Kyle Walker, Hysaj, Bruno Perez will make good right backs, but they look unlikely to leave Tottenham, Napoli and AS Roma respectively.

4. Sell unwanted players
Jeremy Matheiu, Douglas, Arda Turan are just a few who have failed to shine with the Catalans.
The club should look at selling at least five weak players to free up space to buy new ones.
Ardan Turan has not been the adequate squad player he was bought to be
5. Ensure Messi and other key players extend their deals
Messi is yet to extend his deal which expires in 2018 and it a worry that Barcelona has left negotiations reach the final year of the player's contract.
Other key players like Iniesta, Luis Suarez and Neymar have extended their deals, but why not Messi?
Messi's contract expires in the summer of 2018
