The Nigerian Air Force on Friday, July 21, said it is set to slam charges against the officer involved in the attack on the Osun state University (UNIOSUN).
The Air Force in a statement signed by its director of public relations and information Olatokunbo Adesanya said the chief of air staff Abubakar Sadique has directed that appropriate charges be preferred against the personnel.
Adesanya,an air commodore said, the Sadique's directive followed a report by the force which revealed that the airman was allegedly relating with cultists and gangsters of the UNIOSUN.

He said the air chief also directed that appropriates charges in compliance with the provision of the Armed Forces Act CAP A20 Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 2004 by slammed on the personnel.
The chief of air staff also ordered that steps be taken by the force in salvaging the relationship between between members of the university and the Nigerian Air Force men attached to the Institute of Safety in Ipetu Ijesa.

Adesanya said: "One of such steps would be the organization of a novelty football between members of both communities."
"It is important to reiterate that the unfortunate incidence is not a reflection of what the NAF stands for and once again, inconveniences to all concerned parties are highly regretted," Adesanya said.
Subsequently, Adesanya said the report is currently being enriched by the board of inquiry as there are fundamental issues lacking in it.

"The NAF Board of Inquiry into the incidence has now submitted its report to the NAF Headquarters. There were certain fundamental issues, which the report did not adequately address, and necessary directives have therefore been issued for the report to be further enriched," he added.
NAIJ.com earlier reported that some personnel of the Nigerian Air Force on Tuesday, May 23, invaded UNIOSUN.
The personnel were said to have attacked the school community with guns, cutlasses, daggers, clubs and other dangerous weapons.
Following the invasion, NAIJ.com gathered that, no fewer that 11 students and two workers of the university were injured.
