Two custom officers attached to the Katsina Area command have been reportedly shot dead by unknown gunmen in the state.
Vanguard reports that the incident happened at late hours of Sunday night, July 30, at the Dogon Hawa, Shargele in Dutsi local government area of the state.
NAIJ.com gathered that the men were on operation patrol while the gun men engaged them in a gun battle.

Theophilus Peter Duniya, the customs public relations officer has confirmed the incident.
Duniya identified the officers killed as ASC Babandi Nurudeen and CSC Maidamma Yabo.

He however, said investigations are on going to ascertain who are the killers so as to know whether they are armed robbers or assailants.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that Col. Hamid Ali, (rtd) the Comptroller-General of Customs, has directed the immediate removal of all illegal Customs check-points, across the country.
He issued the directive which was contained in a circular on Monday, July 24, in Abuja, through Mr A.A. Dangaladima, the acting deputy comptroller of Customs in charge of Enforcement, Inspection and Investigation.
