On Wednesday, July 19, Nigerians woke up to flooded areas due to the heavy downpour that occurred at the early hours of the morning.
A lot of Nigerians found it difficult to get to their place of work as the rain was too heavy for people to walk under. Also major roads were flooded as private and commercial vehicles managed to make their way in the flood.
NAIJ.com spoke with few commuters narrated their terrible experiences. A young lady who spoke anonymously disclosed that the flood almost swept her away.

She said: “I was on my way to work and by the time I got to Akilo road around Guinness, Ikeja, Lagos the flood was so much but I was determined to get to work on time. Alongside other people we decided to walk in the middle on the road so as to avoid the wide drainage by the side of the road. I lost balance along the way as the water was reaching my knee as trailers were pushing the water towards us but was rescued by the two guys walking ahead and behind me. I’m still in shock.”

Also another lady residing around Akute disclosed that despite being inside a commercial vehicle, the water made its way into the bus. She added that their bus almost got stucked in the flood but helped them.
Going through the social media @Gidi_Traffic on Twitter posted pictures from the same Ogba axis which was affected by the heavy downpour. Some vehicles not make their way through the flood.
