- The allegations of corruption against the minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi may have been false afterall
- This is due to the recent confessions by one of the petitioners of the minister
- The petitioner was on a live TV program to explain the true situation earlier today, Monday, July 17
Foremost political affairs analyst and researcher, Mr Uche Igwe has re-affirmed his earlier stance that most of the allegations of corruption against Nigeria’s minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, were false.
Igwe stated this from his base in the United Kingdom after listening to the confessions of Mr. Livingstone Wechie of the Civil Liberties Organization, Port Harcourt.
Wechie had appeared on a live television program on African Independent Television - Focus Nigeria earlier today, Tuesday, July 17 to make confessions on the role he played to nail Amaechi at all cost.

Wechie stated that all the allegations of corruption that were leveled against the minister was based on forged documents allegedly sponsored by the current governor of the state Nyesom Wike.
According to the civil rights activist, because of the fact that the documents were forged, they were unable to go to court against the former governor.

NAIJ.com gathered that Wechie had petitioned the Senate not to confirm the nomination of Amaechi as a minister of the federal republic of Nigeria.
Reacting to the allegations, Igwe said: “I am shocked but not surprised at the confessions of Mr. Wechie Platform Livingstone on AIT Focus Nigeria this morning.
“It was this same fellow that who boasted that he had evidence of corruption against the Minister of Transportation. He has just admitted that they were all forged documents. The man Livingstone Weche has now recanted on the allegations against Rotimi Amaechi.
“What about all the publications in the media and all advertorials in the newspapers. What about all the information and piles of documents that he took to the Senate? It means they were all fake and fabricated according to his confession.
“That someone will want to deceive the whole country is something I am still trying to come to terms with. The brand of politics played in Nigeria is too dangerous for anyone to emulate. It is so sad that Mr. Wike spent so much money propagating falsehood against his predecessor.”
Igwe further stated that although Amaechi may not be a saint, but many of the allegations leveled against him by Governor Wike cannot be substantiated.
“I am not a politician but my counsel to Wike is to face governance and leave lies and propaganda alone. In a few months from now, he will face re-election, he cannot explain to the people of Rivers state that he spent four years castigating Amaechi,” he added.
Meanwhile, the senior special assistant to President Muhammdu Buhari on media and publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, has decried the rate at which social media users in Nigeria promote tribalism on various mediums.
Speaking at the Positive Voices Campaign Project showcase event in Abuja on Thursday, July 13, Mallam Shehu noted that Nigeria had dealt with the problem of tribalism in the 1960s but it is unfortunate that the social media is bringing back this dangerous trend.
He stressed that it is important that Nigeria remains peaceful, stating that every Nigerian is free to live in any part of the country and cannot be threatened by any violence.
