A young African lady who just became an orthopedic surgeon in the United States has shared the story of her journey to achieving her dreams.
The lady identified as Lattisha Bilbrew who is now an orthopedic hand and upper extremity surgeon narrated her story, noting that it took her 18 years of training to get where she is today.
She explained that a lot of people tried to discourage her from her dreams. According to her, she was told that she could never become a surgeon.
Bilbrew revealed that some of her mentors in university and during her residency days told her she would be better off as practice physician.

The young surgeon also explained that being an African woman, a lot of people said she could not make it but she was determined and she never deterred from her goals.
She advised people to never let people discourage them from their dreams.

She is also the second African American to graduate from the oldest Orthopedic Training program in Texas.
