A 31-year-old man identified as Idama Endurance has been arrested after he was allegedly caught red-handed with his neighbour’s six-month-old baby in the middle of the night.
According to the baby’s mother Banke Akinyemi, the suspect walked into her room while she was sleeping and took her baby away.
Akinyemi noted that it was her baby’s cry that alerted her, adding that the suspect immediately dropped the baby and escaped when she woke up.

She further added that the other neigbours heard her cry for help and caught the alleged kidnapper.

The woman said: "If not for the intervention of the operatives of the Lagos State Task Force who were on a mid-night patrol, the man would have been lynched.”
Endurance, however, claimed that he was drunk from the party he attended and he did not mean to enter her room and take the baby.
He said: “It was after I jumped the gate that I entered into their room looking for a key to the gate as their door was not locked.”
“Since I moved into the compound a year ago, I have been eyeing the mother of the child and when our landlady told me she was two months old pregnant then I immediately stayed off.”
Olayinka Egbeyemi, the chairman of the Lagos State Task Force, noted that the suspect would be transferred to the state Criminal Investigations Department in Yaba.
