Yakubu Aiyegbeni scored twice on Thursday, July 13 as Nigeria defeated China 3 - 2 in their first game in their StarSixes World Cup campaign.
The former Everton striker scored a half braces to add to Daniel Amokachi’s goal to help the Super Eagles legends win.
Ayegbeni opened the scoring in the 15th minute after slotting past goalkeeper Li Wei after being freed by Garba Lawal.

He got his second a few seconds later after captain Austin Okocha found him with a nicely placed looped pass.
Aiyegbeni set up Daniel Amokachi for the third goal to make the scoreline 3 - 0 but a late rally by China.
Peng Weijun pulled one back for China after an avioidable error by goalkeeper Peter Rufai. And with few seconds left to play, the Asians got the second but that could not halt the Super Eagles from securing maximum points.

Nigeria face Italy on Friday night in their second Group B encounter. The Azzurri legends bowed 2-1 to Brazil in their opening encounter.
