Why you need to take your WAEC result with you to the embassy
1. Authenticity
There is a very slim chance that you might not be asked to present your WAEC result at the embassy but in most cases you will. The reason is simple and isn’t far-fetched. Your WAEC result is most valid proof that you attending high school otherwise known as a secondary school.
It is most genuine certificate in high school and largely the most accepted.
2. Importance of high school result
If you are a Nigerian student that has just completed secondary education and wishes to attend a college or university abroad, or you are a University graduate who wishes to pursue a post graduate degree, you would need to present your WAEC certificate at the embassy.
For any certificate you seek abroad, you need your high school results.
Nigerian undergraduate students wanting to abroad are expected to have a WAEC result with at least five/six credits including English and Mathematics.
GCE and NECO are also accepted at the embassy but in rare occasions.

Other required documents for a student visa
In most cases, every applicant is asked to provide the following mandatory documents (original + 2 copies of each document, unless otherwise specified) at the embassy.
1. Valid passport +2 copies of its data page
2. 2 identical passport pictures according to biometric specifications
3. 2 Visa Application Forms (Application for a Residence Permit)
4. School Leaving Certificates of Primary and Secondary School/ WAEC-Certificate
5. Proof of previous academic studies/professional training/ work experience (if applicable)
6. Birth Certificate from National Population Commission or Declaration of Age deposed to by head of Family
7. Letter of admission to the university
8. For fresh high school graduates, a “WAEC-direct access card“ (scratch card to access WAEC results online, available)
