- 400 PDP members reportedly defected to the APC
- They accused Fayose of turning the party to a familiar affair
- They promised to work for the APC to win the gubernatorial election
Ahead of the gubernatorial election in Ekiti, 400 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have reportedly dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Daily Trust reports that the members on the platform of Prince Adedayo Adeyeye Movement (PAAM), from Irepodun/Ifelodun local government left the PDP.

The defectors are reportedly from Eyio, Esure and Iropora area of the council and carried out the joint defection Eyio-Ekiti.
Ademola Bello who is the immediate past special adviser on political matters and Governor Ayodele Fayose's political associate assured the new members of their safety saying the APC does not discriminate.
He described the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Fayode Fayemi as a man of honour.
Mr. Ayodele Matthew led Esure-Ekiti members while Adeyeye Ajibola led new defectors from Iropora.
They said they left the PDP because Fayose had turned the party to a private property.
Meanwhile, the governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, said that he has warned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and its officials not to rig for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming July 14 election.

Fayose also accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Kayode Fayemi of hiring four INEC officials from the commission's headquarters in Abuja to manipulate the July 14 poll to favour the APC.

The governor alleged that the federal government has been delaying allocations to states in the federation because of the July 14 poll in Ekiti, with a view to instigate workers in the state against his government.
