Ahead of the governorship primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos, members of the state House of Assembly met on Saturday, September 29, and during a parliamentary, decided to endorse Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Sanwo-Olu is battling Ambode for the ticket of the APC ahead of the governorship election in the state.
Some lawmakers at the parliamentary held at the Lateef Jakande hall (the former chamber of the House) told NAIJ.com that the decision was taken in the best interest of the party and the state.

A summary of the resolution reached by the members and obtained by NAIJ.com states: “At the parliamentary meeting held on 29th September, 2018 at the Lagos State House of Assembly Complex, members do hereby unanimously resolve to support the position of the leadership of All Progressive Congress(APC) and the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) in Lagos state on the endorsement of Mr Babajide Sanwoolu as the APC gubernatorial candidate in the 2019 election."
NAIJ.com can authoritatively report that the meeting was attended by 36 out of the 40 members in the House of Assembly.
NAIJ.com also obtained copies of the list of the lawmakers who attended the meeting with their signatures.

No reason was given for the absence of the four other lawmakers. Two of the absentees, Segun Olulade and Tobun Abiodun, represent Epe constituencies where the governor lays claim to.
The meeting was presided over by Speaker Mudashiru Obasa and had his deputy, Wasiu Eshilokun-Sani, in attendance.
Others who endorsed the governor include the majority leader of the House, Sanai Agunbiade, and other principal officers including Rotimi Abiru, Omotayo Oduntan and Olumuyiwa Jimoh.
Adefunmilayo Tejuosho, Moshood Olanrewaju Oshun, Rotimi Olowo, Dayo Fafunmi, Layode Ibrahim, Olayinka Ogundimu, Gbolahan Yishawu and Fatai Oluwa attended the meeting.

Tejuosho, the House committee chairman on information, confirmed the endorsement of Sanwo-Olu in a statement also forwarded to NAIJ.com.
She said the decision was taken at a parliamentary meeting of the lawmakers which took place at Lateef Jakande auditorium of the House on Saturday, September 29, 2019, a day before the governorship primaries of the party.
“The meeting was presided over by the Speaker of the House, Rt Hon Mudashiru Obasa. Out of the 40 members of the House, 36 were present at the meeting and all of them endorsed the decision and duly signed the statement announcing the decision,” the statement said.
