The first leg of the Champions League semi-finals begin today, May 2, 2017 as Tuesday's encounter sees Real Madrid welcome city rivals Atletico Madrid to the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Frenchman saw his side defeat Bayern Munich 6 - 2 on aggregate in the quarter-final while Diego Simeone's Atletico defeated Leicester City 2 - 1 on aggregate in the previous round.

Madrid ended Atlético's hopes in past three seasons, twice in final (2014 and 2016) and the 2015 quarter-final.

The Spanish side will be without forward Gareth Bale (calf) and Pepe (ribs) but the European Champions are unbeaten in 14 European games (W9 D5).
Madrid are through to their seventh consecutive UEFA Champions League semi-final, a competition record. It will be their 12th semi-final appearance in total, also a record, one more than Barcelona.
