Breaking: Justice Ademola voluntary retires from office

Justice Adeniyi Ademola, who was arrested along with seven other judges by the officials of the Department of State Service (DSS) in 2016, has voluntary retired from the Federal High Court.

Ademola, according to a source of Vanguard, dropped his resignation on Wednesday, December 6, after presiding over four court cases.

Recall that Ademola was embroiled in a corruption sandal earlier this year and was suspended by the National Judicial Council (NJC), before he resumed in June 2017.

In January, an official of the DSS had testified that the sum of 38 million Naira, two pump action rifles and some foreign currencies were recovered from Ademola's house during their search at his residence in October, 2016.

Justice Ademola did not give a reason for his sudden retirement and had earlier fixed today, December 7, to deliver a judgement on a case.

Recall that NAIJ.com earlier reported that Justice Adeniyi Ademola resumed sitting in June 2017 after a brief suspension by the NJC.

The NJC in a statement on Saturday June 3, had stated that Justice Ademola could resume his judicial duties on the basis that the court had exonerated him of the charges preferred against him by the federal government.

The judicial body also asked five other judges under suspension to resume duties on the basis that the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami, had failed to institute charges against them since October 2016, when the minister requested the NJC to suspend them pending the outcome of the cases against them.
