The match was delayed for about five minutes as Lukaku received treatment, with the Belgian striker apparently administered oxygen.
Marcus Rashford replaced the Belgian as United continued in search of a goal.

Two minutes before the break Lingard saw a headed effort just go wide from Mkhitaryan's cross from the right.

The Saints should have been ahead six minutes after the restart but were De Gea came to the rescue as he denied Shane Long from point blank range.
