Hoodlums yet to be identified have reportedly whisked away the first consignment of 220 bags of rice sent to Kogi state by members of the National Assembly for workers.

A statement signed vice chairman of Nigerian Labour Congress of the state chapter Meliga Obaka made this known on Friday, December 29.

Obaka, however, condemned in totality the attitude of the hoodlums that vandalised the consignment.
The union also debunked claims that Union leaders were part of the agreement for the payment of percentage salaries to the state and local government workers.

According to him, ''The first consignment of 220 bags of rice was still in the truck that brought it to Lokoja at the old market when hoodlums invaded the area and looted the rice.”
He described the occurrence as very unfortunate and called on the law enforcement agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com reported that the Lagos state government said it would resume the sales of LAKE Rice at approved retail outlets across the state from Monday, June 19, ahead of the Eid-el-fitr.
The state’s commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Oluwatoyin Suarau, said this on Sunday while reviewing the modalities for the distribution of the rice across the state.
