Nigerians have been advised not to accept wrapped gifts from strangers during the Christmas and New Year festivities, by the Niger state commissioner of police, Dibal Yakadi, Punch reports.
Yakadi urged Nigerians to be security conscious this yuletide season, as he noted that wrapped gifts could turn out to be parcel bombs.

NAIJ.com gathers that the police commissioned stated that it could turn out to be dangerous if such wrapped gifts are opened.
He also revealed that security measures to deal with threats to peace during the festive season, had been taken by the police command.
He stated: “We will continue to utilise the avenues of intelligence-led policing, community, visibility policing as well as constant intelligence-led raid on criminal hideouts.
“We are battle ready to deal with any form of security threats to enable people celebrate the festivities in a peaceful atmosphere.”
He urged Nigerians to provide useful information on suspicious movements of people, as he noted that this would assist security officials to apprehend criminals at the planning stages of their activities.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that the federal government listed steps Nigerians need to take to be safe during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The federal government through the National Orientation Agency (NOA) further stated that recent bomb threats by insurgents were receiving adequate attention from security agencies across Nigeria.
