The International Police Association (IPA) has honoured Mike Okiro, the chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC) with an award of excellence, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
He was giving the award for reportedly helping to fighting crime and eradicating corruption in the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
The report said the association also honoured SP Ebere Amaraizu , who is the police public relations officer in Enugu with an award of excellence.
NAIJ.com learnt that a statement issued by Amaraizu on Saturday, December 2, in Enugu said that the awards were given on November 24, at a ceremony in Rome.
Amaraizu quoted the presenter of the awards, Dr Antonio Adornato, who is the President of IPA, Italy chapter, as commending Mike Okiro for improving the integrity of the Nigeria police.
“Okiro has motivated others to insist on serving with integrity, hence his recognition for an award over his meritorious service.
“On Enugu state PPRO Amaraizu, his recognition became necessary following his excellent services in the areas of security promotion and crime reduction through functional police-community relations, using public relations platforms,” Amaraizu quoted Adornato as saying.
Amaraizu, who described the award as a challenge for greater productivity, noted that the reward for hard work is more work.
“I am overwhelmed by this award of excellence on public relations practice and therefore see the award as a greater challenge for more work.
“It means that one needs to remain focused at all times and dedicated to one’s endeavour, as you might not know those watching you either for good or bad,” he said.
