Former vice president Abubakar Atiku has called for investigations into allegations of harassment leveled against the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit of the Nigeria Police Force.
In a statement issued in series of tweets on his verified Twitter handle on Sunday, December 3, Atiku, a former Nigeria Customs Service top chief, noted that the allegations must be taken seriously by the police and the National Assembly.
While urging the two institutions to look into the allegations, he saluted Nigerian youths who have started an hashtag movement on social media to raise awareness about the allegations.

The Unit released the complaint channels in a post on its official Facebook handle on Saturday, December 2.
The SARS unit has come under heavy criticism for its handling of police duties in recent times.
The allegations leveled against SARS officials include physical harassment and extra-judicial killing.
NAIJ.com reported recently that a former minister also accused an officer of the unit of manhandling a woman and murder.
The ex-minister also accused the SARS official of carrying out various illegal activities against Nigerians.
