The game of football is arguably the most watched sporting activities in the world considering the level of its followers as hardly would you see a country football is not played.
Players are the major characters in the game of football and many of these football stars have gone to the zenith of their careers considering the clubs they played or playing for.

1. George Weah
George Weah remains the only African who has been crowned world player of the year, and he achieved this success in 1995.
The 51-year-old former AC Milan and Paris-Saint-Germain star has left football and he is currently aspiring to become Liberia President.

2. Adokiye Amiesimaka
Adokiye Amiesimaka is a former Nigerian footballer who has left football to become a politician. Born on November 23, 1956, Amiesimaka played for Sharks FC and Dolphins FC and also was a member of the Nigerian side that won gold at the African Cup of Nations in 1980.

3. Gianni Rivera
Gianni Rivera is a 74-year-old Italian politician and former footballer who played as a midfielder. During his career as a footballer he was mostly utilized as an attacking midfielder.

4. Romario
Born on January 29, 1966, Romario is a Brazilian politician and he is regarded as one of the greatest forwards of all time.

Romário starred for Brazil in their 1994 FIFA World Cup triumph receiving the FIFA Golden Ball as player of the tournament.
5. Hakan Sukur
Sukur is a Turkish retired footballer who played as a striker during his playing days. Nicknamed the "Bull of the Bosphorus", he spent the majority of his professional career with Galatasaray and he is now a politician.

6. Oleh Blokhin
Oleh Blokhin is a former Ukrainian football player who holds the all-time top goalscorer record for Dynamo Kyiv with 266 goals. The 65-year-old was in 1998 elected into the Ukrainian parliament.
