President Muhammadu Buhari has instructed law enforcement agencies to deal decisively with those who import distribute and sell illicit medicine.
The Nation reports that Buhari on Thursday, December 7, made this known in Kano state during the course of his two-day visit to the state.
According to a statement by the senior special assistant on media and publicity Garba Shehu, “The customs is already doing a good job and I’m happy that I got someone who is efficient, strong and trusted to lead it in the person of Hameed Ali, a former governor of Kaduna state.

“I have charged them and other law enforcement agencies to go after those trafficking in illicit medicine that are causing much harm, especially among young people.”
The president assured that the war against corruption will be prosecuted with the highest regards to due process and respect for human rights.
He, however, urged Nigerians to be patient on the issue, saying that as an elected president, he was bound to follow the constitution.

According him, ''When I came in uniform as military Head of state, we locked every suspect in Kirikiri prisons until they proved that they were not guilty.
''Under the constitution, everyone is innocent until proven guilty. That is the constitution and we will abide by it.
''Leaders at every level must pay attention to this. We must give everything we have, including education, vocational skills and training for our large youth population so that they can grow to be responsible citizens.''
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency denied some media reports accusing its management of irregularities in the discharge of their duties.
The agency specifically stated that some drug barons are hellbent on maligning the reputation of its chairman/chief executive, Colonel Muhammad Mustapha Abdallah (rtd), because of his campaign against drug trafficking in Nigeria.
