- Governor Okorocha approved the payment of two months' salaries to Imo workers
- He said this was to let them enjoy a seamless Christmas
There was an air of celebration in in Imo state as Governor Rochas Okorocha approved the payment of two month’s salaries to workers in the state.
The Punch reports that this was contained in the statement released on Wednesday, December 20 by the state commissioner for information, Nnamdi Obiaraeri.

He said the governor made this move so that workers in the state would have a seamless Christmas celebration.
He said: “This is to announce that the Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has approved the immediate payment of the November and December 2017 salaries of Imo workers.
“This is to enable our esteemed Imo workers to celebrate seamless Christmas. Payments have duly commenced.
“Any worker encountering any difficulties with the approved payments should not hesitate to contact the Ministry of Happiness and Purpose Fulfilment for immediate intervention.”
Naij.com had reported that Governor Okorocha claimed he has no opposition while reacting to a proposed rally against him by the Imo Peoples Action for Democracy (IPAD).
The governor said that the few people against him are people whose only focus are on the 2019 governorship election in the state and they count as no opposition.
Okorocha, in a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, dismissed the IPAD group's plan to occupy Imo state from December 18 to December 24, The Nation reports.
