- Manchester City are interested in signing new defender in January 2018
- The club are targeting Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk
- City boss Pep Guardiola is also interested in West Brom defender Jonny Evans
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has reportedly told the club to land a new central defender in January 2018 despite their unbeaten run this season.
City are currently topping the Premier League standings, and Pep Guardiola is said to be interested in Southampton man Virgil van Dijk or West Brom defender Jonny Evans.
Last summer, Manchester City were seriously interested in signing Dijk, but the Etihad landlords felt the asking price of £70 million was too much for the player.

Guardiola however remains keen on Virgil Dijk, but only if Saints are willing to lower the price considerably.

But should Southampton refuse to lower their asking price on the 26-year-old Dutch defender, then Manchester City will go for West Brom strongman Jonny Evans.
Earlier, NAIJ.com had reported how Manchester City are also preparing to sign Arsenal striker Alexis Sanchez when the next transfer window opens.
