- Nigerian lady accused army cadets under training of sneaking out illegally during training
- The army responded to her allegation and promised to investigate it
A Nigerian lady on twitter, Raliyah, alleged that army cadets under training often sneak out of their training camp, without any official notice.
NAIJ.com gathered from Raliyah!’s tweets this has been happening at the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna.
She claimed that the cadets sneak out fully kitted in their military regalia and then go to some few illiterate Fulani gate men around the Academy to change into casuals leaving their uniforms with the Fulanis for about a week or even more.
Raliyah tweeted: "I noticed some happenings in Nigerian Defense Academy, Kaduna which could be a big threat in the nearest future if something is not done about it very soon.
"Cadets who are meant to be in the premises throughout their training and are meant to go out only when it’s official tend to sneak out of the premises and do their normal activities outside the premises
"But this is not a problem, the issue is what they do in the process. From my findings and all the things I’ve witnessed in my premises, they sneak out fully kitted in their military regalia. Then go to some few illiterate Fulani gate men around the Academy to change into casuals.
"Leaving behind their uniforms, boots and so on with these men for as long as 3-4-5 days and even more before they come back to get them and then sneak back into the Academy. My concern now is their military clothing being left behind. Sooner or later, these Fulani’s may wise up.
"And start using these uniform to cause mayhem and commit atrocities in the society if they’ve not even started doing so. This is a really urgent security threat and it needs to be fixed ASAP. The rate of robbery, kidnappings and killings by uniform men is alarming."

Another tweeter user, John Christian Alex (@jchristianalex), confirmed this allegation.
She tweeted: "She is absolutely correct. There are ways to go out for some days without the academy authorities knowing. Though checks can be conducted but there are ways to cover up even on parade. When they are caught they are punished and even dismissed but it happens."
In reaction to the allegation, Nigerian Army thanked Raliyah! and assured that necessary actions were being taken to address the issue.
The Nigerian Army tweeted: "Thanks dear for your concerns. Necessary actions are being taken as we speak. Issues of internal & national security is everyone's interest. Once again thank you for the Intel."
NAIJ.com previously reported that the Nigerian army had dismissed a report that six soldiers were killed recently in a bomb attack at an Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Pulka community of Gwoza local government area of Borno.
According to the military, the report which said six soldiers were killed by Boko Haram insurgents in an ambush on Damboa Road is not only misleading, but fictitious.
